OUT OF THIS WORM SATURDAY

"You may be a famous legend, in the land, but you

will need some more big fans," Gary repeated.

Hmmmm!

Gary had already figured out the first riddle that

Yellow Rose had given him, but this one was really

hard to decipher!

The first riddle pointed to the north portion of his

planet, Glirka, from whence the snow and cold was

coming, but what did his rabid fans have to do with

 anything?

Fans. Fans? Maybe Y.R. was talking about

different kinds of fans? Yeah, that's IT!

ONE WEEK LATER

The weather has become very nice,

almost balmy!

The temperature is 78 degrees,

fahrenheit.

The 500 year long winter has finally

ended.

Now we see Gary and Yellow Rose

looking up at gigantic windmills

blowing all of the snow, sleet, and

 frigid weather back up north.

Gary - This is cool, Yellow Rose, but

what will we do for snow on

Christmas?

Yellow Rose - Elementary, my dear

Gary, we will turn the fans around!

OUT OF THIS WORLD THURSDAY

"When you know the direction the invader doth enter, you may find a way to eliminate winter!"

These words from the riddle that Yellow Rose gave to Gary kept looping over and over in his alien brain.

Within this cockadoodie riddle was part of the answer to ending the 500 year long winter on the planet Glirka .

"Let's see, Gary said to himself...direction?"

"Isn't that a singing group from the future?  No, that's One Direction!"

"Invader."  "Space Invader?"

"Wait a galdurn minute," Gary exclaimed!

"Winter comes from the top of Glirka, like an invader!" It enters from the...uh...what direction IS that?"

Yellow Rose beams in with sparkling, star-like, fairy dust looking stuff all around her.

Yellow Rose - "North, you knucklehead, north!!"

Gary - "Yeah, that's it! That's the ticket!"

Yellow Rose - "Okay, you came close enough...to my surprise!"

Gary - "AWESOME! Gimme the next riddle...gimme the next riddle!!"

Yellow Rose - "Keep your antennas on, Gary!"
"Okay, here it is... You may be a famous legend in the land, but you will need some more big fans."

Gary - "I am a real humble dude, Y.R., but you already know I have billions of adoring fans all over the universe. Why would I need more fans?"

At that, Yellow Rose beams back out, in an electrifying, sparkling way!

Gary - "I wish she wouldn't do that all of a sudden! It startled me!"

"You may be a famous legend in the land, but you will need some more big fans," Gary repeated.

Hmmmm!

OUT OF THIS WORLD WEDNESDAY

In the last episode of OOTWW we found Gary the Glirkazoid down in the dumps because of the miserable, depressing, 500 year long winter on his home planet of Glirka!

Gary knew he could come up with a brilliant plan, but he thought he would consult with his sidekick, Yellow Rose, to get her input.

Gary, on the glirkaphone - Yo! Yellow Rose! Whazzup?

Yellow Rose - My IQ.

Gary - Ha Ha Ha! You are so witty, YR!
You know how bad this long winter has been, right? Uh...I'm trying to figure...um..out what to do to make it stop! Ya got any ideas, my faithful friend?

Yellow Rose - Sure I do, but I will give you a couple of riddles, and you can figure it out yourself.

Gary - Why do you always do that, Rosie? Why can't you just tell me the answer?!

Y. R. - It's more fun doing it this way, Gary! Ha Ha Ha! I love making you use your seldom used brain cells once in a while.

Gary - What?!! SELDOM USED BRAIN CELLS?! I want you to know I finished 2nd in my class at the Academy!

Yellow Rose - Gary! There were only 2 cadets in your class!

Gary - Well...I...okay...never mind, just tell me the first riddle...please!

Y.R. - When you know the direction the invader doth enter, you may find a way to eliminate winter!

Gary - Wha...wha...WHAT?

Y.R. - When you figure out the first riddle, I'll give you the second one.

Gary - But, Yellow Rose, I don't know nothin' about directions, invaders, and doth's! How can you expect me to...

Y.R. Stop whining, Gary, and start riddling, before this winter goes on another 500 years!

Gary - #&)@+****^%$###! (Not suitable for translation)

Lord Byron

I really need to start writing my blog again, every day, whether people read it or not.

When I don't express my joys, fears, questions, and  things that weigh on my heart and mind, I get extra cranky, anxious, impatient, and just plain mean at times!

I don't want to be mean, because it would be real sad if only one or two people attended my funeral, or came to my funeral just to make sure the old S.O.B. was really dead!

Keeping my sanity is a high priority for me, because I have LOST it mucho numero times!

To prove the point, as I'm writing at this very moment, I'm not thinking about my arthritis, my overdue bills, Obamacare, Windows XP, Olympic  gold medals, or any of that stuff!

Okay, well, I did think about that stuff as I wrote them down, but now, as I write about spring, the Beatles, the Coldplay song, "Yellow," my great YouTube friends, my wife getting surprised on Valentines day, Richie Havens, Joni Mitchell...I have completely forgotton about all that bad crap!

This is wonderful therapy for me!

So, don't feel sorry for me if I only get one comment on my blog, I need to write it every single day...or I'll go more nuts than I already am!

Arrivabirdie!

HOSTS OF THE TONIGHT SHOW

Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno.

Here is how I rate them:

1. Johnny Carson...Funniest...brought out the best in his guests.

2. Steve Allen...Wacky...multi-talented.

3. Jack Paar...Intelligent...emotional...
good interviewer.

4. Jay Leno...Down to earth...nice guy.

5. Conan O'Brien...Like my mom always told me..."If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all!"

Watching the tonight show over the years always gave me a sense of security, like, "all's right with the world."

The Tonight Show has been there my whole life, no matter what bad things were happening in the world, or in my life. Like a faithful friend who would tell me, "It's okay, I'm here to cheer you up a bit, buddy."

Jimmy Fallon will do great! He is kind of like a combination of all the past hosts. Funny, multi-talented, intelligent, and a nice guy.

I see no evidence of Conan O'Brien in him...that's a plus!

I hope the Tonight Show goes on forever...or at least until I'm "pushin' up daisies!"

THOUGHTFUL THURSDAY

WARMER DAYS

Playing baseball on a dusty field,
Block the sun, your hand's a shield,
On warmer days.

Walking on the rough hot rocks,
To dive in the river, so cold it shocks,
On warmer days.

Driving with the car top down,
Listening to that Elvis sound,
On warmer days.

Picnic in the park,
Drive-in movie after dark,
Being happy as a lark,
In a hundred different ways,
On warmer days.

Fishing on the river bank,
On warmer days,
Play a harmless little prank,
On warmer days.

Like sneaking up for your attack,
And putting ice cubes down her back,
Although you know you'll get a smack,
On warmer days.

Today the temp is 7 below,
And we have about a foot of snow,
That's when my thoughts begin to flow,
To times of sun born rays,
On warmer days.

OUT OF THIS WORLD WEDNESDAY

It was the coldest, worst, stinking winter in the history of the planet Glirka!

Even though the winters of Glirka are only 500 years long, it was still causing a bit of "cabin fever" in Gary. (Although, there are no such things as cabins on Glirka.)

It was even frigid in the, normally, warmer regions of the planet, like Glexus and Glalabama!

Being a national hero, and legend to his fellow Glirkazoids, Gary felt like he needed to do something about the miserable, lousy, snowy, ice-covered planetary deep freeze situation.

It was so bad that Glirkazoid spaceships were freezing up, crashing in to other spaceships and smashing on the ground!

Glirkazoid lovers were having their lips stick together!

The snow was piled up higher than a glirkasaurus...on stilts!

"Enough is enough," Gary exclaimed, "this winter crap has GOT TO STOP!"

What can Gary do to cancel this horrible, chilled to the bones, winter weather?

We will have to wait until next week for "OUT OF THIS WORLD WEDNESDAY" to find out!!

Sigh-uh- nar-uh!
