SORRY! I'M SO BEHIND ON STUFF!

Christmas tree went up today,

10 days 'till Christmas time,

So much crap we've had to do,

From ridiculous to sublime!

Family, car, and health stuff,

All took priority,

Over decorating the household,

And our little Christmas tree.

Don't think that I'm complaining,

God has blessed us truly great,

We have food and clothes and shelter,

We're just running a bit late.

It seems that in my older years,

Christmas is much sweeter,

The memories more vivid,

My heart warms like a heater.

When I think about my childhood,

In St. Louis visiting kin,

We always felt so welcome,

When they bid us "come on in!"

Gifting was more simple,

Only one or two,

Nothing very fancy,

Not a big tadoo.

My Mom would buy some apples,

Oranges, nuts and candy,

This all was such a treat for us,

We liked it fine and dandy!

Just wanted everyone to know,

You are in my heart and mind,

Just like when I was just a boy,

And you treated me so kind.
