The Big Benefit Of Potholes!

We Illinoisians are way too familiar with potholes!

We curse them, call our politicians about them, cry about them, drive crazy to avoid them, and HATE, HATE, HATE them!!!

Here is the beauty part about them, folks!

When the moon is colonized, Illinoisians will be so prepared to drive around up there!

We are experts at circumventing craters, already!

We will corner the market on Uber, taxis, busses, trucks, EVERYTHING that needs drivers!

Our pay rate will increase by a million per cent, to boot!!

I thought we needed some positive pothole news, due to the fact that they ain't gonna be fixed until July!

Donna, Be My Valentine

    I'm no romantic Romeo,
With a gift of costly wine,
I'm just the man who loves you,
Donna, be my Valentine.

I'd love to take you 'round the world,
At the finest places dine,
All I can give is my whole heart,
Donna, be my Valentine.

Gold and silver, I have not,
No diamonds in my hand,
But I am blessed to be with you,
The fairest in the land!

On the day that I first saw you,
I dreamed that you'd be mine,
You're wonderful and precious,
Donna, be my Valentine.

Thousands Of My Blog Fans Miss Me!

It was impossible for me to do my blog since last Thursday, because my computer monitor (AKA the computer screen) died!

Not to be confused with the SCHOOL monitor who oversees and monitors student behavior by walking hallways, campus grounds, locker rooms, and cafeteria to ensure students are proceeding to their classes in an orderly manner; ... May function as a representative for students to bring issues/concerns to the attention of teachers, counselors, and administration.

This is also not the Minotaur, who also died, but not like my monitor.

The Minotaur was the offspring of the Cretan Queen Pasiphae and a majestic bull. Due to the Minotaur's monstrous form, King Minos ordered the craftsman, Daedalus, and his son, Icarus, to build a huge maze known as the Labyrinth to house the beast.

In Crete, Minos' daughter Ariadne fell madly in love with Theseus and helped him navigate the labyrinth. In most accounts she gave him a ball of thread, allowing him to retrace his path. Theseus killed theMinotaur with the sword of Aegeus and led the other Athenians back out of the labyrinth.

Imagine the thousands of messages that were left in all my message areas from rabid fans, concerned about my whereabouts, and longing for the time when Bloggadocious 222 would be gracing their monitors once again?

IMAGINE is right! NOBODY left ANY messages on my blog, Facebook, YouTube, or nuttin' honey, about my blog being AWOL!!

That's okay, folks! It just tells me how much you guys trust me, and KNOW I would never desert you, my faithful fans, without tellin' ya!

By the way, I got a new monitor!

Frequent Car Accidents On My Corner

Oh, my gosh! Just about 5 minutes ago there was, yet, another two vehicle accident on the corner where our house is located in Pekin, Il!

That's gotta be about 15 accidents on that corner since we've lived here! FYI, everybody seemed to be okay, and a police officer, in his police car, was right there to see it happen. He was so close he almost became part of the scene of the crime, if running a stop sign is still considered a crime.

That's usually what happens. The perp (perpetrator) will not be paying attention (texting or something), and run right through the stop sign on Caroline Street...and WHAMMO...hit the vic (victim), who has no stop sign, driving full speed down 11th Street!

Boom!!! It always sounds like a small bomb has gone off when it happens, and scares the dog!

Give me a sec, 'cause I'm gonna look out the window and see how things are progressing.

I'm back. The victim's car is gone already, and the perp's car is on a tow truck, due to extensive damage to the back end. Wow! That was FAST! It usually takes the cops an hour or more, just to do the interrogations!

At least no ambulances were needed this time. Thank God!

I also thank God that no one has ever been killed on 11th and Caroline! The corner of mayhem and destruction!!

I often (that's often with a silent t, the way it's supposed to be pronounced) feel as if folks are a bit distracted while driving in this 21st Century...Fox.

Yes, I know we were distracted way back in the 1950's, by whining kids, getting White Castle hamburgers out of the boxes, adjusting the radio, pushing in and grabbing the pop out cigarette lighter, rolling down the window by hand, smoking Pall Malls, having the "suicide knob" come off at 65 miles per...but none of that stuff was anywhere near as distracting as TEXTING, for some unexplained, mysterious reason.

So, whatever I was going to blog about today was rudely interrupted by ANOTHER traffic accident that was totally avoidable!

Please pay more attention, drivers of Pekin! I do not want to have to see the city street sweeper have to remove your splattered remains from the pavement, and Chevy (me dog) is suffering P.T.S.D WAY too often from the crashing sound, and you don't want Chevy  on your keister, do ya?

My State Of The Onions Speech

My fellow Americans. You're probably wondering why I asked you to be here today for my State Of The Onions Address.

Well, as most of you do NOT know, the state that grows the MOST onions is Washington. Here are the top onion producing states in the order of their, uh, production...or acreage...or whatever...

U.S. Onion Acreage Estimates
State
Acres
Washington
23,900
Idaho-Eastern Oregon
22,800
California
16,150
Texas
13,500
Georgia
11,600
New York
9,050
West/Central Oregon
8,950
New Mexico
7,300
Nevada
4,400
Colorado
4,102
Michigan
2,350
Wisconsin
1,620
Utah
1,610
N. Dakota/Minnesota/Ohio
1,082
Other (FL, IA, IL, IN, MA, NC, NE, NJ, PA, SC, etc.)
935
Arizona
800

As for me and my household, we LOVE  onions! Especially when they are sauteed in butter! They have appeal to millions of Americans! (Get it? A PEEL)

On the other hand, millions of OTHER Americans despise onions with a deep, abiding hatred that knows no bounds!

Okay, okay, but it's nothing to cry about! (Get it? Nothing to...nevermind)

Actually, onions are cherished throughout the entire world! Just look at the next boring statistics...

World's top 8 onion producing countries
  1. China. Production: 22,300,000 tons.
  2. India. Production: 19,299,000 tons. ...
  3. The United States of America. Production: 3,159,400 tons. ...
  4. Iran. Production: 2,381,551 tons. ...
  5. Russia. Production: 1,984,937 tons. ...
  6. Turkey. Production: 1,904,846 tons. ...
  7. Egypt. Production: 1,903,000 tons. ...
  8. Pakistan. Production: 1,660,800 tons.

As true, patriotic Americans, how can we stand by and let China and India be ahead of us in onion growing?  Land sakes! India is beating us by 16 million tons and China is kicking our butts by 19 million tons!! It's a cryin' shame!! (See, I did it again)

Although Washington is our official state of the onions, we ALL need to be states of the onions and peel through the layers of bureaucracy that prevent our agricultural communities from producing more sweet Vadalia, white, red, shallots, green onions and leeks!

Leeks are not as commonly known to Americans, but I don't know how many times I've gone to the grocery store and taken a leek!

In conclusion, the state of the onions is strong, but we can work hard, as patriotic American citizens, to increase onion production even more in Washington, more in Idaho/Oregon, California and Texas, more than in India and China, and spread onions throughout the entire universe!!!

Superbowl Half Time Show...A Big NO!

I grew up watching and listening to entertainment that was relaxing, funny, mellow, rock and rolly, inspiring, and good things like that. So excuse me for not enjoying the Superbowl 53 Halftime Show.

First of all, didn't they used to pick the GREATEST stars in the world to perform at halftime?

Folks like Paul McCartney, Prince, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Whitney Houston....

Who in the heck is Big Boi? I looked him up and he's from Georgia, so maybe that's why they selected him to sing at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium Atlanta, Georgia. A major superstar? I don't think so.

Ask people on the street (before Superbowl 53) who Big Boi is, and this will come to mind for most of them.

Travis Scott? Don't think many would know him either. Not like they would know, let's say, James Taylor, Alicia Keys, Garth Brooks, John Legend, Aerosmith, or even Taylor Swift!

Many more folks know about Adam Levine from The Voice than from listening to Maroon 5, I suggest, but I've been wrong a LOT in my life.

My point is, not one of Superbowl LIII halftime performers were on a high enough level in the entertainment world, to have been on the biggest stage (viewerly speaking) in the universe!

Image of microscopic section of the universe.

Led Zeppelin they were not! Hey! Why didn't they have Led Zeppelin? Now there's an AWESOME band! The fans would have loved Stairway To Heaven or that one that talks about coming from the land of ice and snow and Hot Springs Arkansas. That's got a great beat!!

Yeah, I know Led Zeppelin is gone, but a boi can dream, can't he?

Boi, Boy, or Buoy? Place your
answer in comments section below.

Didn't the "bigwigs" think about the audience when they planned this halfwit halftime show?

Think about it. The Superbowl audience consists mostly of heterosexual men (men who like women), and a much smaller percentage of women who like men, so why have 3 MEN, two doing rap (which had to be bleeped), and one doing a strip show!

Of course, I could be TOTALLY wrong, as usual. Maybe the world is at a place where women watch the Superbowl more than men, and when you throw in men who love men, folks who love rap, pyro-technic aficionados, tatoo lovers, Maroon 5 fans, and people too high to really know what was going on, it may have been a the most brilliant idea for a halftime show, EVER!!

Let me know if you think my observations are way off base, unfounded, old fashioned, silly, or deeply profound.

I just hope that next year they have a well known group like the Beatles, or Sly And The Family Stone!! Oh, yeah, baby!!!
