 Dark, Disturbing, Daytime Dramas

Today we delve deeply into the matter of dark, disturbing daytime dramas!

It's not that I eagerly watch daytime dramas (soap operas), but I have stumbled upon a few of them in my advanced years.

When I say "dark and disturbing" I am not using hyperbole! (pronounced hyper-bowl...like the Superbowl where everyone is hyper) Ask any English major.

The way they talk is so dramatic, with long pauses before they go to the next scene, or to a commercial.

It's like, "Victoria, was it YOU that killed Billy with the meat thermometer?"

Then the camera pans in on Victoria's face for a long time, and she does not say anything. They go to a commercial or another scene, and leave us hanging about the meat thermometer murder.

Another thing they do, that makes me crazy, is bring dead folks back to life all the time! If anyone dies, especially in a car crash, where the body is burned beyond recognition, or a plane crash, where the victim turns up missing, you KNOW they are coming back alive, eventually.

They also provide an abundance of frightening "evil twins" on these daytime dramas! Which creates confusion for my simple brain, trying to figure out which one is the saintly good twin, and who is the dark, evil, murderous twin.

For example, the good twin goes missing in a plane crash, but later on turns up alive and well. However, he/she begins to act very strangely, and the citizens of Port Charles are being murdered left and right. Then it's revealed that it's NOT the good twin after all, but the evil twin pretending to be the good twin!

Later on down the road, the GOOD twin, who survived the plane crash, but had amnesia for a while, comes back and exposes the BAD twin, and the bad twin is sent to prison where he/she can escape and wreak havoc again!

Another disturbing thing about these "soaps" is how much crime the bad guys get away with!

Ian Ward - AKA Ray Wise

Remember the massively evil Ian Ward, from The Young And The Restless? Here is a list of his crimes, believe it or not....
Crimes Committed
See what I mean, about dark and disturbing?

Sure ya do!

Another dark and disturbing thing is the lack of commitment to their significant others in these shows! They will start kissing another person's spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, mom, dad, grandma...at the drop of a hat!!

For you millennials

This makes these "soap operas" all the more confusing, when you have to keep track of who is with who, and what kid belongs to what parent, and who cheated on who...

All I can say, it's a good thing I don't watch these dark, disturbing, daytime dramas!

Wow! I'd be so warped!!
