The Golden Throne Commode Caper
When I first heard this bizarre story, I had it all wrong (nothing unusual), because I thought the famous English guy, Winston Churchill, had a solid gold toilet in his home that had been there for generations, and that it was recently stolen from his boyhood home.

The truth is, a crazy Italian artist,
Maurizio Cattelan, created the gold plated (not solid gold) toilet in 2016 and called it "America," which sounds like a put down of my favorite country, but that's another whole blog for the future.

The toilet IS worth a lot of money. 1.2 million dollars. I don't know what that is in Italian lira, but what does it matter, right?
So, as the account goes, according to the American/British media, the Guggenheim Museum, in New York, City, installed the usable toilet in the building where people would pay to use it!
I know I already showed this photo, but it's so beautiful!!!
I may be crazy, but it just seems kind of a sacrilege to poo poo in a gold toilet! I also remember the quote from Judas Iscariot (not that I often quote from Judas Iscariot), it went something like, "couldn't that valuable perfume be sold and the money given to the poor!"
I know, I know, we're not talking about perfume. No, I'm not trying to confuse you, but perfume can be very expensive, like gold, and uh...anyway...

$10,000 an ounce.
The point I'm making is that the 1.2 mil. could have been given to the poor instead of used to make a dumb toilet!
Shore is purdy, though!!
Continuing on...after the Guggenheim Exhibition, someone (I don't know who) moved the toilet to Blenheim Palace's water closet (aka a bathroom) in England, where Sir Winston Churchill was born and used the aforementioned water closet!!
After a short period of time, some ne'erdowell made an unwelcome entrance into the palace and absconded with the precious potty!
Conspiracy theorists believe it was Maurizio Cattelan himself that stole his own creation for pure publicity, but I know nothing!!
A few thoughts on this most unusual story...
1. I really don't give a crap.
2. I would have taken a hacksaw into the Guggenheim restroom with me.
3. If Maurizio is calling America a toilet, has he ever been to Venice?!
4. I hope that gold toilet has a seat warmer.
5. I think they will flush out the perpetrator of the crime.
Lots of great wordplay!
