FREEDOM BY RICHIE HAVENS (COVER)
My favorite singer will always be the sensational, kind, Richie Havens!
Even though he was young when I went to his first concert, he seemed like a grandpa to me.
Soft deep voice, wise, lots of love, and no teeth.
Seriously! He would sing with no teeth in his mouth, which gave him a unique sound.
His ballads were unbelievably beautiful, like the song "Follow," and he then would rock the whole place down with his rendition of "High Flying Bird" or "Freedom!"

I recorded this cover song before he passed, and I wanted to post it again now.
Not because I sing it that well, or it's a wonderful video, but just as a little tribute to the greatest performer I ever saw in concert!
Now, you may be thinking, why not just post Richie singing this himself?
The reason is, that before he went to heaven he didn't have time to watch my little tribute to him, or didn't even know it existed!
Now I believe he does, and he has all the time available to do anything he wants!
He knows I'm sincere, and will get the vibe that I'm posting this today!

Now, don't expect this to be anyway near the greatness of Richie Havens, but just know I loved this man, and wanted to do something in his honor.

ReplyDeleteRichie Havens had a deal a few years ago where people could come stay at the hotel where he was staying, meet him, hang out with him, and even eat meals with him! I bought tickets to go, and something major came up at the last minute and it didn't happen. Sigh! Thanks for all of your great comments, Cheryl! ^_^
