Monday, Monday...Can't Trust That Day...But It's Okay, I Say!

"Sure, YOU can say it's okay, because you don't have to get up and go to work, like most of us do," you're thinkin'?

Well, maybe you're not thinkin' that, but I'm feeling a bit guilty about relaxing in my luxurious recliner, whilst you are slaving away in the proverbial "salt mines" every single, miserable day!

On the other hand, I USED to work every day, and I feel your pain, in a fading memory of what it used to be on Monday...especially if I partied too hardy on the weekend!

Ouch, it was sore hard (to use a biblical term) getting out of a warm bed in December...scraping the frost off the windshield, and going to a job that always seemed to be cold as ice!

The good part was Monday could POSSIBLY be a new beginning!

All the dumb mistakes you made the week before could be swept under the proverbial rug and you could begin making fresh mistakes!

Monday gave me hope that maybe a Nashville music publisher was gonna call me about a song I sent, or I might lose a couple of lbs,

Roman libra
The libra (Latin for "scales / balance") is an ancient Roman unit of mass that was equivalent to approximately 328.9 grams. It was divided into 12 unciae (singular: uncia), or ounces. The libra is the origin of the abbreviation for pound, "lb".

my long lost uncle would send me $2,222 pazoozas for no reason,

my boss would leave me alone, because he partied too hardy himself and had a splitting headache,

I could learn how to play the Appalachian dulcimer, spontaneously,

and an endless array of possibilities that simply being alive on Monday could bring! Hallelujah!!

Sorry if I got a little preachy, but my grandpa WAS a preacher, so it comes naturally.

So, now do you feel better about Monday?

Well, I do! That's all that matters!

Like my new hair-do?

Hee haw!

Go Where You Wanna Go And Do What You Wanna Do, As Well!

A wise man once said, "the more you pay attention to what others think about you, the crazier you'll get!"

Okay, it wasn't a wise man that said this, it was me. However, I think I make a good point, for a change!

If you don't give a rat's patoot about what others think, there is a freedom that can only be described by watching a caged boar being released in the wild, who with reckless abandon, runs amuck through them Kentucky hills, gores a couple of bystanders, and proceeds to eat their McDonald's sack lunch!

Yes! It's that exhilarating!

On the other hand, always being concerned over what others think about the style of mask we're wearing, the model of car we drive, what we eat and drink, the clothes we wear, the amount of Old Spice we use, our favorite music, where we go to church, how we raise our chitlins, and a zillion other things, will drive us stark raving mad!!

Don't forget what the foretellers of the future told us...

There you go man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles And piles Of trials With smiles. It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave And keep on thinking free. The Moody Blues.

So, to keep it short and sweet today...

I Got Plenty Of Nothin' This Thursday

Thursday is, traditionally, a great day for me to do my blogging, because I've always been partial to Thursdays since I was a little kid, for reasons I can't explain.

However, this Thursday, I feel like I have no brain to opine on nothin'!

I was thinking about reminiscing about all of the 1950's Christmas shows like Hardrock, Coco and Joe, and Here Comes Suzy Snowflake, but that would only be compelling for you oldsters who grew up in those ancient times.

Then there was a little movie from the 50's that told the story of Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem for Jesus birth, but I could not find it for the life of me! Maybe the atheistic, anti-Christ TV executives destroyed that one for being too religious!

Oh. wow! YouTube age restricted my song! Cool!! Promise you're over 18, and then click it on!

No! That would NEVER happen!

Anyway, if you find it, send me the link! Remember, it has to be from the fifties, and I can't remember if it was animated or live action, and it showed Camels, Joseph and Mary traveling, I think the Wise Men as well, although they didn't actually attend Jesus birth. Look it up.

Well, that's all I got on this inauspicious Thursday!

Except for the fact that I'll be doing my "Peggy From Latvia" bit on the Greg and Dan radio show again this year, which I REALLY need to work on, and will be singing Mary Did You Know at Christ Bible Church again this year, which I REALLY need to practice!

Every year I have to find out if I can still hit those high notes, and the day I cannot, I'll quit. Watching an old codger trying to sing those high notes and missing the mark is kind of embarrassing for everybody!

Okay! I'm finished on this ordinary Thursday morning. I know you're longing for inspiration and enlightenment, but I just ain't got none today.

Unless I tell you about the time I saw Tony Dow on Catalina Island! Oh, I already told that story?

Then I got nothin'!

Out Of This World Wednesday...You Call This A Vacation?

Our beloved and precious Glirkazoids, Rosie and Gary, are enjoying a bit of R and R on their home planet of Glirka, basking themselves in the triple suns, drinking Purple Glirf, watching the flying turtles soaring above the Sea Of  Transparency (which is actually invisible), and generally chillin' out.

Rosie - "Oh, Gary, isn't it awesome to see all of the diverse creatures swimming around in the Sea Of Transparency?"

Gary - "It's cool, but I've watched all of the Jacques Cousteau films from Earth, and need not any more knowledge of swimming creatures."

Rosie - "You imbecile! The swimming creatures here on Glirka are totally different than the ones on Earth! For instance, like the one over there by the rock!"

Photo of hideous creature by the rock.↑

Gary - "Yea gads! What a horrible creature!! Please, Rosie, I'm trying to relax on this time off, don't mess it up by terrifying me to death!"

Rosie - "Sorry, my friend! Just close your eyes and take it easy. I'll tell you when that enormous krakenazoid is close enough to eat your face."

Gary - "Crikey! Let's blow this blasted beach and head for the Big John Candy mountains to the north!" (Glirkazoids worship John Candy and name inanimate objects after him)

Rosie - "Okay! I think the HHH's are migrating through the mountains this time of year, but we can handle it."

Gary - "Wha? The Hairy Homicide Hornets are migrating?"

Rosie - "Yeah, but we can wear our anti HHH hazmat suits to protect ourselves."

Gary - "What kind of vacation would THAT be! Up and down the mountain trails wearing those heavy, sweat inducing, bulky, anti HHH hazmat suits? I'd rather be on a death defying mission than do that!!"

Welp, this is what Rosie had been waiting to hear! Truth be told, she was getting really bored, and missing the adrenalin rush of suicide missions, defeating spaze monsters and generally being a SUPER HERO, or is it HEROINE?

What will be their next exciting adventure?

Are you brave enough to join them next Wednesday?

If so, be here or be queer, in an oddball kind of way, for...

Laugh And The World Laughs With You, Cry And You're Post Malone!

To be totally transparent, I know nothing about Post Malone, except that he does those commercials for Doritos and has "stay away" tattooed on his face. Which is a sign, at least to me, he cries a lot!

Inquisitive indivisibles ask if I'm REALLY a happy guy, or hiding my pain and sorrow under a veil of humorousity.

Ha! Wouldn't you like to know? Okay, I'll tell ya!

I'm too old to care about such an abstract concept of happiness and sadness, fame and failure, or genius and goofyness.

Although, in spite of many trials and tribulations, I'm feelin' pretty good!

My Grandpa used to say, "you might be good, but you ain't too pretty!" Or something like that. Which made me wonder if I was an ugly kid, but that's water under the St. Francis River bridge!

Happy song about the St. Francis River bridge and accompanying gravel bar.ꜛ

Laughing along with the crowd is fun! Like when you're watching a comedy movie at a theatre with a bunch of good natured blokes (if you're in England or Australia), and Peter Sellers tickles your funny bone, which invokes an involuntary laughing response from the whole mob of theatre goers.

Which is proof positive that the afore mentioned, "laugh and the world laughs with you" is accurate!

"Cry and you're Post Malone" is still being studied, because even with "stay away" on his face, he is worth...

Post Malone has an approximate net worth of $14 million and is only 24 years old. Post Malone is still quite young but has done quite well for himself in the 3 years since he released his first single.Aug 8, 2020.

Of course, a multitude of celebs have been totally depressed
whilst living in the lap of luxury, so maybe Post Malone is crying, or laughing...
oh, I don't know!!

Christmas Tree Set Up Seminar

All of you  die hard (a great Christmas movie), traditionalist, never-fakers, who insist on a REAL Christmas tree, even though you're killing a living creature of the forest, need not read this, because I'm focusing in on faux Christmas trees that live forever, in a plastic kind of way.

You'll find your boxed up tree, 99% of the time, in the most difficult area to navigate in the house.

In the basement, underneath a pile of stuff, way up in the attic, up in the rafters of the garage, in a closet, enveloped in tons of clothing, but almost NEVER in a convenient place, unless you're one of those OCD, neat fanatics, who everybody resents!

If you're a normal slacker, like me, you never organize the branches, or color code them, or number them when you throw them in the box from the previous year. You just shove them in the box with a reckless abandon, because you're tired and want it all to be over before the new year begins.

So you dump all the tree parts in a pile, and then sort through the mess, and try to figure which limbs go on the bottom from the length of the branches, but sometimes you (meaning me) put the wrong branches on the wrong level, but just leave them there because you think no one will notice, but your spouse will ALWAYS notice!

Untangling the lights is an annual ritual, because instead of wrapping the lights on a specifically designed light holder thingy the previous year, you just wadded them up and threw them in a box, because you had partied too hardy the night before.

Putting the "ancient" ornaments on the tree takes me forever, because I reminisce over every one, and I have to make sure each one is freely hanging perfectly, and NOT crooked from resting on a lower branch. Examples below ↓

Totally wrong!

Correctamundo!

Christmas music MUST be playing whilst trimming the tree! This is NOT OPTIONAL!!

I hope this brief seminar helps you, but it doesn't really matter if you are a rebel like me, and NEVER pay attention to the advice of others.
