My Mother's Day Message For Donna, My Mom In Heaven, And All The Magnificent Moms In The World!!

Ephesians 6:2-3 New International Version (NIV)

“Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”[a]

Although the bible says we should honor our father and mother everyday, a lot of folks forget, or have never read the bible, so in America we have special days set aside for honoring our moms and dads.

One of them is called, "Mother's Day."

Believe it or not, Mother's Day is upon us! Sunday will be the day we take special care to remember and honor our mothers.

My mom went to heaven a number of years ago, but how I still remember the laughter and joy she brought to us kids and others.

She was always singing and dancing, telling funny stories, and teaching us things about showing love and compassion to folks not us fortunate as we were, which seemed a bit odd, since we were far from rich.

In the past I've written about her providing for the homeless, and ANYONE in need, but she made sure all of her 6 kids never made fun of, or looked down upon people "down on their luck."

On the other hand, she could be very outspoken when it came to her freedom to be who she wanted to be, and our freedom to be who we wanted to be, as her children.

Although she was an old fashioned, discipline minded mom, she allowed us to spread our wings and fly as far as we could, as we grew older. I still appreciate that in my senior years.

Another great mom, is my wife, Donna!

Her sweet love and compassion for her children is beyond my comprehension! (but, I'm a guy, so..)

I never knew the meaning of unconditional love, until I saw her in action!

Kids get in trouble, and I begin to think it's time to give up and give in. That thought never even enters her mind! Donna continues to cherish her children exactly the same way she always has, no matter what! Her love is like God's love! We constantly mess up, but His love remains the same. Wonderful!

In the past, she was a single mom, doing her best to raise her kids in a the best way she knew how. It was a struggle! However, she tells me that it was her kids that kept her going, along with her faith in God!

Donna still has sleepless nights worrying about her children and grandchildren, and she always will. That's the way she is. That's the way she was created.

I'm sure most of you see similarities here with your mom. Some folks have written to me, after I wrote something about my cool mom, and said they had a mom who was NOT cool, or nice, or loving, or even walked out on them!

I am so sorry if that's your heartbreaking story. Kids deserve a good mom. But even if that was your sad experience, you can often think of someone who cared about you, held you, protected you, in the absence of mom.

I'm extremely fortunate to have had such a close relationship with my own marvelous mom, and Donna, my wife, who has taught me what real, unconditional love is all about!!!

Happy Mother's Day to my mom in heaven, Donna, the sweetest mom I know, and all the magnificent moms out there!!!

Out Of This World Wednesday Returns? Maybe Not.

Ever since a Glirkazoidian spazeship crash landed on the earth, at the same exact time Jesus was born, coincidentally, we lowly earthlings have benefited from the advanced wisdom and technology of the Glirkazoids!

There would be no television, yo yo's, Snickers bars, Frisbee's, nachos, uni-cycles, computers, cowboy belt buckles, ice cream, futons, Ferris wheels, singing bass fish plaques, or almost nuttin' honey, if it weren't for the lovable little Glirkazoid alien creatures!

If anyone can still remember, I used to do "Out Of This World Wednesdays" on this very blog, where I'd do the adventures of Gary the Glirkazoid and his companions until everyone got sick of it.

I was giving some thought to bringing it back, but then I thought, nah, no one wants a rehashed virgin of those lame spaze adventures. (virgin?)

But then I thought, with Avengers Endgame being so popular, maybe "Out Of This World Wednesday" could become a BIG HIT this tom!! (Who's Tom?)

What do you guys think?

Please don't say that it's a great idea unless you mean it, okay? Because, you're gonna get what you ask for, and be bored with "Out Of This World Wednesday" for the rest of your lives if you speak in the affirmative.

Personally, I enjoy escapist syfy stuff to totally get away from earthly worries, fears, creepy folks, rude people, relentless weeds in my yard, guys across the street setting off "cherry bombs" that sound like REAL bombs (hard to escape that), politics, folks paying attention to their "smart phones" instead of me...and you get my point...right? Right!

However, on the other hand, YOU possibly can't stand syfy junk, and NEVER, EVER want me to do "Out Of This World Wednesday" EVER again!!

You hated it back then, and you'll hate it now, if I put it back on my blog!!!!!!

I get that. So please let me know, in your most honest words, if you want me to resurrect this classic piece of.........syfy.......gone sideways.

Me Against The Weeds!!

I'm not an "environmentalist wacko," as Rush Limbaugh would say, in describing  someone fanatical about the environment.

However, I do NOT like to use pesticides or herbicides on my lawn. They literally take my breath away, and I don't want our Chevy-dog to roll in poison.

On the other hand, the doggone weeds are taking over the yard, like Tribbles!

I have a sneaking suspicion that our neighbors don't like the fact that we don't spray our lawn for weeds.

I got a hint from, we'll call him, Steve, my neighbor who said, "I wish the #%!&# folks around here would spray their weeds, their weed seeds are blowing into my pristine yard!!"

I didn't see the need of explaining how the toxic chemicals make me stop breathing and could easily kill my dog, so I said, "You're right, Steve! We have a lot of BIG JERKS in the neighborhood!"

Of course, he knew I was the biggest culprit on the block, because he drives by my house every day and sees the vast amounts of TALL weeds growing amidst the short grass.

That's the rub, brothers and sisters, the weeds grow 100 times faster than the grass, and I ain't gonna mow my lawn every stinkin' day, just to whack off the weeds! No sir!!

"But Danny," you say in a helpful kind of way, "there is a special tool you can purchase to remove weeds by hand, and eliminate the toxic, poisonous, methods."

You're kidding, right? I'm OLD, and FEEBLE, and way too smart to remove 100,000 weeds by hand!

I already walk bent over! Imagine what would happen if I removed 150,000 weeds by hand! I'd end up in "Shady Vale" before my time! (Shady Vale  is my imaginary nursing home)(You may have noticed I went from 100,000 weeds to 150,000 weeds. That's how fast those suckers grow!)

If you guys, and gals have any suggestions on how to remove my weeds without any physical labor and no weed killers, please let me know. (By the way, I already tried that dish soap, salt and vinegar method, with so so results)

By the way, May 8th is National Coke day, and...wait a minute...maybe I could pour Coke on my weeds! If it can clean a battery, and put a hole in a pound of baloney, it should easily kill my weeds!

Unfortunately, I can't afford enough Coke to kill a million weeds.

Pure As The Wind Driven Snow

Remember when we were all happy,
Remember when we were all gay,
We all ate our supper together,
We even asked someone to pray!

Our language was free from foul talking,
No one would mug us while walking,
T.V. was pure and delightful,
Except for the Twilight Zone, FRIGHTFUL!

Drugs were just aspirin and cough drops,
We didn't have fear of the beat cops,
We committed no crimes really serious,
Driving 60 would make us delirious!

Everything now is quite different,
To things good and moral we're ignorant,
The shows there on Netflix are sleezy,
But we watch them 'cause it's all too easy.

I'm not being mean or judgemental,
I just wish everything was more gentle,
The cursing and hate makes me shudder,
Seems the world has arrived in the gutter.

You and I are the few rare exceptions,
Our behavior needs little corrections,
We're pure as the wind driven snow,
Game Of Thrones is on, I gotta go!

Often Down, But NEVER Out!

I'm just as pleased as punch that so many of you are latching on to Bloggadocious 222!

It seems that all of the analytics about my blog "sucking wind" were incorrectomundo!

So here is a BIG SHOUT OUT to all of you guys...and gals, who continue to make this blog a roaring success!

So often in this thing we like to call life, we are underestimated, disregarded, shunned, picked last for the neighborhood basketball team, and "THEY" don't know what they're missing!
You and I would have been the BEST thing that EVER happened to them, but, oh no, we weren't good enough for their stupid team, or group, or whatever!
However, it's all good. It doesn't tick us off. If we were really angry, we would ramble on about it, but we are cool, calm, collected, and non-critical of those snobby uppity ups who missed an opportunity of a lifetime by rejecting our hidden powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men!

Just like when we were in grade school, and the boy or girl we adored, dismissed our advances, and danced with that conceited, Sheila or Billy at Teen Town!
Shoot! We were the best dancers! In addition, we would have treated our dance partner with the utmost respect and courteousness!
But noooooo, Sheila or Billy got to dance the whole night away with our crushes, while we sat in those ridiculously hard chairs on the sideline! (If there are sidelines on a dance floor)

After all these years it doesn't bother us. If it bothered us, we would continue to spout off incessantly about it, but we're way too mature for that kind of adolescent behavior!

Just another note, I always wore a really nice jacket and tie, shined my shoes, and borrowed my dad's Old Spice cologne, so what's not to like? I was there for the taking, but Billy, or Timmy, or Douglas (especially Douglas) would get all the girls!
That's all "water under the bridge" for us now, isn't it? We don't care about not being invited to stinkin' parties, being overlooked for high school reunions, job promotions, wedding invites, bowling leagues and other stuff that would make weaker individuals apoplectic!
ap·o·plec·tic
/ˌapəˈplektik/
adjective
INFORMAL
  1. overcome with anger; extremely indignant.
synonyms:furiousenraged, overcome with anger, infuriated, in a temper, incensedraging
We are better than that! Way better! We have proved to ourselves and a few others, that we are strong, lovable, kindly, sensible human beings, who have not let the social prejudices and mean spirited attitudes, snuff out our free, independent spirit, and self worth!

  1. However, it sure would have been nice to have been picked first for the dodge ball team, just once.
