I'ts Donna's Birthday Today!!!!

Today is my beloved, Donna's birthday! I am the one who "lucked out," because she is beautiful and sweet, and I'm not!

Just yesterday we went to "prompt care," where they didn't know us, and they thought Donna was my daughter! Wow! She looks young enough to be my daughter! Or, possibly, I look old enough to be her dad!! Naw! That couldn't be it, could it?

Yeah, I can see what they mean.

Anyway, she has always been adorable since she was little bitty. Here is proof...

I thank God that Donna is so wonderful to her kids, her parents, the grandkids, me, the dog, Chevy...because we would all be in a serious world of hurt without her loving kindness and compassion!

It's not just on her birthday that I tell her how much I love her, but every single day, just in case she forgets, and decides to run away with Ryan Paevey, because of my not saying I love you enough.

No comparison between him and me, right?

While Donna doesn't care if I mention her age (she say's "age is just a number"), I ain't gonna do it, due to the fact I'm not stupid. (Well, not THAT stupid)

We were thinking about going to the islands for Donna's birthday, but the Illinois river has flooded them over, and the asian carp aren't biting, anyways!

A personal poem to you, my sweet, baby angel, Donna...

I love you in the morning, I love you in the night,
And now upon you're birthday, our love has taken flight,

It soars up to the heavens, and halfway to the moon,
The reason I'm so happy, is you were born in June!

So on this date we celebrate, your birthday cheer to elevate, the magic and the joy we share, and show you, Donna, that I care!!!

I love you very, very, very much!!! Happy Birthday!!!!

A Happy Day In Springfield

It was a happy day in Springfield,
But it almost made us cry,
They passed a major law,
To make more unborn die.

They doubled down on taxes,
And gave themselves a raise,
They say it's all to help us,
"These are the good old days!"

"The good old days" to them, of course,
The rest of us, we suffer,
When we ask to get a break or two,
They tell us to be tougher!

They think that legalizing weed,
Will dull us to the truth,
But no drug will ever hide the fact,
They're nasty and uncouth!

If I were God, I'd wipe them out,
Those stepping on the frail,
Making laws to end the unborn,
While they dine on lobster tail.

However, God is patient,
His thoughts more pure than mine,
He's waiting for the perfect day,
To show His will divine!

Alas, Leon Redbone Died Yesterday

I have to admit, I am not an expert on Leon Redbone's music. I can not name all of his most popular songs, or tell you anything about his life, but I have always admired his unique voice and style.

It takes a lot of courage and stubbornness to be different, and Mr. Redbone was definitely different!

He played the songs HE wanted to play, and never worried about the modern trends, and what was "hot" at the time.

If you're not familiar with Leon Redbone's music, here's an example...

His wardrobe was old timey, and he wore hats, which is not done much anymore.

Everything was "throwback," not just his clothes. The music he played, his singing style (kinda like Al Jolson)...

Yes, Al sang in blackface, but nobody knew it was wrong back then.

...his song choices, EVERYTHING was refreshingly Leon Redbone alone!

There have been a lot of unique entertainers that have come and gone, like Tiny Tim, or Weird Al, but Leon Redbone was an excellent musician who took his music seriously, most of the time...but not all of the time...

Most of us (me included), do not have the cojones to be different, like Leon Redbone. He was a special, beloved entertainer, who will always be remembered, not in spite of his quirky style, but because of it!

Trapped In Another Dimension!!

Oh, my! It's already 2:29 in the afternoon and I haven't even started my daily blog posting yet!

Wha happen? I don't really know. I think I kinda fell into a bizarre time warp, and lost the whole stinkin' mornin'!

Whatever it was, I need to get this thang started, before it's too late to meditate and relate!

Of course I meditate before I write this blog! What? Do you think I just sit down here at my P.C. and start typing aimlessly with no thought on what I'm gonna say...like I'm doing now? I have more R-E-S-P-E-C-T for you readers than that!

With that in mind, why don't we discuss..umm...how's about...uh...let me meditate a few more seconds.

I think I've got it! Let's discuss the vast amounts of RAIN we've been having here in central America!

Now, I don't mean Central America like...

I mean like...

Let's face it, God knows we need water to survive, and we truly appreciate water, which comes from rain, like the song says...

I don't question God's ways, but boy oh boy, we sure have had a ton of rain lately. I'm not complaining, but the farmers are worried they won't get their crops in on time, and the folks with flooded homes would enjoy a little dry out time, and our dog, Chevy has been shaking like a leaf every night from the thunder boomers.

It's okay, though, because we're tough in the Midwest! Like we always say, "we won't melt, we can run between the raindrops, good Lord willin' and the creeks don't rise!"

Maybe I'm delirious from all the wetness, but I actually enjoyed carrying buckets of water from our overly wet basement yesterday. I kinda felt like Mickey Mouse in that weird cartoon about the buckets and lots of water...

So, that's all I have time for today, due to my nap, I mean, the bizarre time warp that trapped me in another dimension for a couple of hours.
